Gifts in Wills

Leaving a gift in your Will to Estuary can help make sure that no-one in need in our community is alone or has to wait for help when they need it. By leaving us a gift in your Will, you are helping secure the wellbeing of our community for the future. It is one of the most impactful donations you ever can make.

Together, Estuary can be there to help more people in need in future years.

With your support, we will do everything we can to make sure that the most vulnerable people in our community can live full and independent lives.

We are grateful for all gifts in Wills, large and small, as they help ensure we are here to give care, comfort and support to those who need it. A gift in your Will could be directed towards an area that interests you or it could be an unrestricted donation, allowing us to direct your gift to where it is needed most at the time of receipt.

Remembering us in your Will is a heartfelt way to ensure a lasting legacy for all the community of Topsham and surrounds. If you are making or amending your Will, once you have provided for your nearest and dearest, please consider leaving a gift to Estuary.

How you can remember us in your Will
We strongly recommend that you speak to a Legal professional when writing your Will, or if amending your existing Will (by adding a Codicil), to ensure that your wishes are carried out in the way that you want them to be. You can find a local solicitor through the Law Society.

The three main types of gift that you can leave in your Will are:

  • A residuary gift is a percentage of your estate once gifts have been made to family and friends. Many of our supporters choose to leave this type of gift because its value will be dependent on the value of your estate at any given time rather than a set amount.
  • A pecuniary gift is a specific amount of money. It’s worth bearing in mind that the effects of inflation mean that this type of gift is likely to lose value over time and may end up being less than you initially intend.
  • A specific gift is a gift of a specified item – such as a personal possession, land, buildings or stocks and shares.

Here is some suggested working if you are thinking of leaving a gift in your Will:

  • A residuary gift
I give the residue of my estate to The Estuary League of Friends Nelson Close, Topsham, Devon EX3 0DX (Registered Charity Number 1088242) for its general charitable purposes. I further direct that the receipt of the Chief Executive or other proper officer of the said charity for the time being shall be a full and sufficient discharge for the said gift.
  • A pecuniary or specific gift
I give the sum of £_____ (or specified item) to The Estuary League of Friends Nelson Close, Topsham, Devon EX3 0DX (Registered Charity Number 1088242) for its general charitable purposes. I further direct that the receipt of the Chief Executive or other proper officer of the said charity for the time being shall be a full and sufficient discharge for the said gift.
